The Emigrant Geothermal Prospect is a defined prospect with a possible potential of about 15 Megawatts of electrical potential. The site consists of over 6,000 acres of leased Bureau of Land Management land in rural Esmeralda County, Nevada. The prospect is associated with deep water circulation along the recent Emigrant strike slip fault. The prospect was defined by Borax and Sulphur deposits, which were mined in the early 1900s. In 2006, Esmeralda Energy Company was the successful applicant in a $700,000 US-DOE Geothermal Resource and Exploration Definition-III [GRED-III] cost sharing program to drill a 3,000 foot deep core hole to test the resource. The well was completed within budget to a depth of 2,939 ft.
Earth Systems Southwest served as co-investigator in the project, to coordinate geophysical studies and to evaluate the drilling results. Currently, we are assisting in the general assessment of the prospect and in the marketing of the property. |
